We’re so pleased that our most long standing exhibitor Garden Studio Crafts will be once again exhibiting with us on 22nd September. Based in their garden studio at home (hence the name) Jil and Tony create beautiful vintage inspired wedding and event stationery for couples all over the UK. They are also more than happy to customise their designs to make them one of a kind and totally unique.

Their studio and gardens are absolutely beautiful and when they’re not working on designs, they are working hard to maintain it all and when the sun shines enjoy it! If you follow their facebook page they post lovely images of their home and garden which looks beautiful all year round.

They are without question the most lovely people to work with and pride themselves on the quality of their work.

Here are a few current designs with a full range being showcased on 22nd September.

Vintage Chic Flick | Vintage Chic Wedding Fair October 21st 2012

In preparation for our next Vintage Chic Wedding Fair 21st October 2012, we are delighted to bring to you some images from our latest promo shoot which we have called Vintage Chic Flick. The overall aim of the shoot was to provide a little inspiration mixed in with some candid fun – as usual nothing high brow at Vintage Chic Wedding Fair!

Weddings have strong links with movies. Boy meets girl, they fall in love (with obligatory ups and downs along the way) they marry and live happily ever after (ahhhhh!!). A wedding day documents a magical story and so the idea of incorporating movies and cinema into this shoot was born.

The beautiful and vintage Electric Cinema – the oldest working cinema in the UK  set in the heart of Birmingham provided the perfect venue for this shoot.

With a girls night out at the cinema in mind, we collaborated with some of our creative and talented exhibitors to marry together this fun theme which gives you a taste of our fairs. Fun, entertaining and full of ideas with inspiration across all vintage eras. Our models were accompanied by our signature entertainer, the one and only Simon Partridge who loved scoffing popcorn in the name of art!!

Everything included in these images were provided by exhibitors who will be at our October fair and we would like to thank them all very much for their contributions. Big thanks to models Sarah and Laura who stepped in at the last minute – they looked beautiful and were lovely ladies to work with mwah! xx

Studio Seed

Tamsin designed some beautiful cinema inspired stationery. ‘I used a simple pallette of warm greys and black (for that black-and-white film look) and coupled with vintage typography and a subtle hint at romantic on-screen couples…The main invitations opened outwards like curtains at the cinema, and came complete with two admission tickets to the big day. Envelopes were lined with an art deco-inspired print and had vintage labels affixed to the front’

Miss Lolas Bakehouse

I was thrilled to be asked to contribute to the Vintage Chic Wedding Fair photoshoot. As soon as the words ‘Hollywood Vintage Glamour’ were uttered by Susie and Cathy, my imagination went into overdrive! I used a subtle colour palette of neutral tones with highlights of burnished metallics.

A mass of full blown sugar roses and vintage style edible brooches were added to the mix to create a glamourous, yet ultimately romantic 4 tier Wedding cake with matching cakepops.’

Fusion Flowers

Kris from Fusion Flowers designed some stunning floral art. ‘We went with a neutral theme to begin with reflecting that back in the day all film was black and white, this inspired me to use neutral shades including creams, ivory and silvery browns and the use of Norma Jean Roses, Viburnum, Hydrangea, Carnations, Eustoma, Phlox and Physocarpa complemented the Mirrored Candelabra really well and looked striking along with the amazing Cake and Stationary. To compliment this I designed a small Vintage Bridal Posy using Norma Jean Roses, Viburnum and Saponaria complimented with beautiful pearl beads.

Then we moved onto the Electric Cinema. To reflect the Red used within the Venue and the accessories used at the photo shoot I created two bridal designs. To create the vintage bridal bouquets I used stunning Naomi Roses, Sweet William, Alstromeria and Hypericum Berry. Firstly, a beautiful Hand Tied Design and secondly a stunning Shower Bouquet Design.

Luxe Bridal

With a backdrop as fabulous as the Electric Cinema we decided to choose some of our more elegant dresses from a number of eras but all possessing the necessary chic elements. A lurex silver thread 1960s fitted dress was first up along with a wonderful classic 1950s cream satin dress with delicate fern pattern.

One of our favourite dresses, a 1970s, lace tiered number, was used next to add a bit of girly romance to the proceedings. Model Sarah changed into one of our newer arrivals in the Luxe Bridal studio, a stunning 1930s silk and lace dress with collar and matching belt. We teamed this with a delicate 1930s seed beaded clutch.

For the finale we chose an early 1980s, 20s style drop waist dress, as a nod to the Art Deco cinema and a reflection of the fashion for drop waists currently sneaking back into the limelight. The dress by Scott McClintock and originally from Liberty’s features a lace layered upper with a floaty chiffon skirt. Sarah wore another stunning early 1980s column dress with lovely subtle scalloped neckline and shoulders and intricate beading across the bodice of the dress. The style and elegance of the dress reminiscent of the early 60s and very Audry Hepburn.

Le Keux Events (The Vintage Salon)

Le Keux events complimented the gowns with some stylishly simple vintage hair and make up. Classic curls and a low beehive along with strong brows, eyeliner and lips to finish off the look.

Garden Studio Crafts – Beautiful Vintage Inspired Stationery

It’s with great pleasure that we bring you this post today about  the lovely Garden Studio Crafts. They’re a family firm of creative stationers based up near Sheffield and they are one of our loyal team of exhibitors. They’ve exhibited at all of our shows so far and we very much hope they continue to do so.

The business was created after their Daughter & Son-in-law were married in 2007 and it was this occasion where they caught the wedding bug so to speak. Officially established in 2010, the business is now going from strength to strength!

Like us, their business is a family affair with Tony, who looks after the running of the business and does all of the computer stuff as well as helping make things. Their Daughter Kama, who organises social media and writing descriptions for the new designs. Their Son James, who is very creative & who they use as a sounding board to bounce ideas off.  Last bu by no means least there’s Jil who is the creator of the designs.  She’s constantly designing, drawing inspiration from all around her ( Especially when in the garden which she designed from scratch – hence the name Garden Studio Crafts!)

They love exhibiting at wedding fairs, meeting all the lovely Bride & Grooms and listening to their ideas and always put on an impressive display. Their work is all lovingly handmade and they carry a varied range which can be altered to provide a bespoke design.

They never stand still, bringing out new ranges all the time. The images of which can be seen firstly on their face book page, eventually they then make it onto their website.

Following recent customer requests they’re also going to be adding some new items this year including:

  • Large Table Plan Tags (vintage suitcase table plans)
  • Sweet Buffet Signs
  • Sweetie Jar Labels
  • Lottery Ticket Holders
  • Guest Books
  • Photo Prop Favours (moustaches, lips, glasses, speech bubbles)
  • Disposable Camera’s

And anything else brides ask them for!

Here’s a few examples of their work of their recent work.

If you’re on the hunt for some vintage inspired stationery then this family firm come highly recommended so get in touch!-Garden Studio Crafts.

Pocket Typewriter {creators of loveable stationery}

When it comes to stationery – it’s the little details that matter. I hang my head in shame when I think about the shocking DIY creations at my wedding **shudder!**

Pocket Typewriter first came to our attention when we were sourcing exhibitors for the wedding fair at Stancliffe Hall in Derby that was held back in Autumn 2011.

Like us, Pocket Typewriter is family business made up of brother and sister team Leckie & Jack who created their business as they both have a passion for design, colour and creativity with Jack having a clear talent for illustration.

The business began when Leckie and her now lovely husband proposed and they asked Jack to design their wedding invitations. He did and they just fell in love with them -literally! Since then their business has gone from strength to strength with 2011 being a really good year!

Leckie says ‘We have met and worked with some fabulous brides and grooms, working with them to create their perfect wedding stationery. We have had so much fun! We ‘ve met some other great suppliers through the fantastic wedding fairs we’ve exhibited at. Our illustrations have been featured in You & Your Wedding Magazine which was a big highlight of the year’

At the end of last year they also launched their greeting cards collection and these are now selling in some great little shops, including the fantastic Simply Chic, owned by the lovely Cathy Lavictoire one half of Vintage Chic Wedding Fair!

Inspirations

They are inspired by everything and everyone around them!

‘We always try to visit galleries, antique fairs, home and gift shows. It is our mission to carry on creating and developing ideas, making us different and exciting! That’s why we have created our 3D collections such as “A Country Wedding” and “Let’s Eat Cake” that offer something a little more unusual.’

They certainly have a signature style which is a gorgeous fusion of contemporary and vintage.

‘We love to create and so bespoke work for our lovely brides and grooms is something we enjoy doing so much, as it is an exciting challenge, it is so important that we achieve something that is loved by our clients. We love to work on and develop ideas, so we just ask our customers what they are thinking of and we then go from there!’

Another exciting year ahead

Jack and Leckie are looking forward to working with lots more wonderful couples and suppliers. You & Your Wedding Magazine have asked to work with them again on some of this year’s issues so watch this space!

‘We are very excited to be showing our greeting card collection at the Harrogate Home and Gift Show in July. This will be our first trade show, so fingers crossed it will be great!’

The most exciting thing to happen this year by far will be the arrival of Leckie’s first baby!! Good times ahead for this year for Leckie and Uncle Jack xxx
