Pollyanna Vintage

We really enjoy blogging about our exhibitors, especially when they’ve not exhibited with us before. We like to get to know them and what they do.  Equally interesting is why they started their vintage inspired business!

We caught up with Linda who is the owner and founder of Pollyanna Vintage,  a lovely vintage hire business based in the Staffordshire countryside with an enviable stock of props, bunting, games, china and table decor.

We asked Linda why she loves vintage and how her business started.

“Well, vintage is just an integral part of whom I am and where I’ve come from.  The influences of my childhood are memories of afternoon teas and dinners with beautiful china; not that I was participating, my father was the local game keeper so I was a total observer !! The impact though was very special and lasting.

I am fascinated by the history of these delicate fabulous pieces…. who owned and used them? Were they in a stately home or the ‘best’ china in a humble home ? Amazing they have survived. My favourite era is probably the early 1900’s for china; the quality of fine bone English china (made in Staffordshire of course!) is unbeatable. That said I collect so many different and quirky things from all ages….my latest is 1950’s baking, totally wonderful.

So, this really underpins why Pollyanna Vintage was born to share all this loveliness with those couples so in love with each other  and of course vintage.  My passion, creative flair and love of weddings are the perfect mix to ensure that special, unforgettable day is the most memorable day for you and all of your guests.  From china hire to cutlery, table linen to decorations, props to vintage games Pollyanna has everything for a totally vintage wedding or just a hint of vintage; put this together with my bespoke wedding planning service and you have the total package. “

Dolly ~ The Vintage Ice Cream Van

As fas back as I can remember, the sound and melody of the ice cream van is something I will never forget. It reminds me of being a kid, the the summer in the late afternoon. I’m still partial to a strawberry split even now! There is also of course the iconic 99 with strawberry sauce of course.

This September we are thrilled to be joined by Dolly and her owner Charlotte who will be exhibiting on 22nd September 2013 at The Malmaison Hotel Birmingham.

Here’s a bit of info about Dolly by her owner Charlotte.

I’ve been running my cake business for nearly two years and I was keen to look for a way of adding something special and unique to the company. My friends at Vortex Creates are currently renovating a vintage caravan and I thought it would be a great idea to have something similar that I could hire out for wedding and events.

My family and boyfriend will tell you that I love ice cream more than anything! So it seemed a great idea to be able to offer ice cream as well as, or instead of cake, for weddings. I love cute classic vehicles and it wasn’t long before I spotted Dolly for sale.

Dolly is a 1974 Bedford ice cream van. What’s really nice about her is that she’s completely original (she’s been loved and well looked after all her life), and luckily her blue exterior and red interior worked perfectly with the 1950s look I wanted to give her. So when she’s working she gets dressed up in lots of red polka dots, cute bunting and shabby chic accessories.

She’s based near Solihull and covers a 30 mile radius included within the all inclusive hire price. Or she can travel slightly further for a small travel cost. Dolly serves locally made luxury ice cream available in 50 flavours. Dolly adds a perfect fun vintage touch to any wedding or celebration. As well as ice cream she can serve cupcakes or even the wedding cake and she’s a great prop for photos.

A Dozen Eggs | Bespoke and Unique Stationery

Take a look at A Dozen Eggs – a partnership created by first class design graduates Fran and Jo who love creating and designing bespoke, unique and personalised wedding stationery.

Their aim is to create stationery that not only reflects the wedding theme but also compliments a couples’ true personality. They are also able to create personalised gifts for the Bride and Groom and have both their own shop  and presence on Not on The High Street too.

In addition to bespoke designs they also have some beautiful template stationery which provides a cost effective solution.

As you can see from these images, Fran and Jo are both inspired by colour palettes, simple layouts and beautiful typography resulting in modern designs with bygone influences.

We’re thrilled that they will be joining us in October and we’re really looking forward to seeing more of their stunning designs. In the meantime you can visit their websites!

Lights Camera Action!

Cathy and I have had a brilliant day today visiting  Lynsey the owner of The Vintage Salon at The Custard Factory in Birmingham.

We don’t often get the chance to spend some QT time together whilst ‘working’ so today was a memorable day for us. With kids at school and Cathy’s new addition spending time with Daddy, we headed up north from Worcester to Birmingham, managing a lovely ching wag and catch up in the car.

The Vintage salon is located at the Custard Factory and is as authentic as you can get.  A mecca for anyone wanting a 50’s look for their big day or any day!

Le Keux Events have been long standing exhibitors of ours so it was equally lovely to catch up with Lynsey too. She’s so busy at the moment with girls working flat out all over the country. She one busy lady.

Then arrived Keith Bloomfield from Hardluck Hotel who bought his gear along for us to do a little promo video. May we just say we have total respect now for TV presenters, news readers and anyone infront of the camera! Your mind goes black once the camera rolls but it didn’t matter at all as we had so much fun doing it {to be revealed soon!}

Huge thanks to both The Vintage Salon and Keith for their time today xxx

The Big Day Productions

We are pleased to introduce you to one of our new exhibitors from our last wedding fair ‘The Big Day Productions’ who produce high quality wedding videography.

In days gone past, wedding videography has been characterised by poor footage, in your face cameras and crackly sound. Thankfully those days are over!

This top notch vidoegrapher is able to offer both discreet HD state of the art cinematic videography or popular vintage style super 8 style video.

If you’re not sure what super 8 is then imagine watching an old classic vintage film. It’s a good option for those looking to incorporate vintage inspiration for their wedding day and there aren’t many videographers able to offer this option.

After footage of your big day is taken, Mark then spends alot of time meticulously editing and colour correcting the footage to the highest standard before it’s presented to you. Tears will be flowing when you see your wedding day on TV that’s for sure!

Mark is currently offering a great deal on videgography booked at the moment so it’s a really good time to drop him a line and have a chat. He’s a really nice chap :  )

A very Vintage Chic 1920’s 30’s Inspired Bridal shoot at The Botanical Gardens

So last month we got together with some fabulous exhibitors who’ll be showcasing their work at our up and coming Spring fair for a 1920’s – 30’s inspired Bridal shoot at the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Birmingham. Special thanks to Redcliffe catering for letting us use this spectacular venue.

The location very much influenced the styling for this shoot with the art deco shaped domes in the gardens and internal decor in the suite we used.

With massive thanks to Luxe Bridal, Darby and Joan, The Red Cake Company,Liezl Croft Photography plus make up artist Cheryl Williams and Hair stylist Emily Hall we are pleased to present to you a very Vintage Chic photo shoot!

Karen from Darby and Joan kindly offered to model for us and bought along some stunning pieces to style the shoot from her vast collection including some lovely crystal champagne glasses, silver teaware, gorgeous lace and luxurious faux fur coats and wraps. This was key in creating the all important glamorous look of the roaring Twenties. Her co model and our very good friend Ulle looked fabulous in feathers, a stunning up do and a 20’s inspired head piece.

The gorgeous gowns that Karen and Ulle modelled were from Luxe Bridal who are based at The Custard Factory in Birmingham. Becky and Shelley who own Luxe Bridal knew exactly what we were looking for choosing 6 different gowns and headpieces which were a match made in heaven. Just look at the stunning detail on the dress below as modelled by Ulle. Very good value too so if you’re looking for a bridal gown we cannot recommend them enough!!

We’d also like to mention and thank the stunning cakes by The Red Cake Company.Pam who is the owner of The Red Cake Company is very modest about her cakes and the most lovely person to work with. She bought along 3 different cakes which were all different in their own way but had synergy with our theme. From these images it is clear to see that her creations are expertly decorated and finished beautifully.

Lastly thanks to our photographer Liezl Croft for capturing these lovely images.

If you’ve enjoyed this blog post then you will most certainly enjoy what we have planned for you on 22nd April. I can’t tell you how much fun we all had and we hope this comes across in the images. xxx

Exhibitor List Available Online

Where on earth does the time go….. March already?!

Not long now until our next event on 22nd April at The Centennial Centre in Birmingham where we will be showcasing over 40 vintage inspired suppliers.

In preparation for this we have now released the exhibitor list with a few more to be added very soon.

We’re chuffed to bits with the variety of these talented, passionate and creative suppliers. It makes us want to get married all over again! I’m trying to persuade my Husband that we should renew our vows which is not going down too well considering we are only 6 years in (this weekend!!) Sigh……

We’re also really pleased to tell you that we will be having some live demonstrations at this fair which is perfect for DIY Brides. Kris from Fusion Flowers is putting together some creations for you to be inspired by which will be easy to re create yourselves.

Simon Partridge will also be singing for us all day. We guarantee you’ll be humming his lovely tunes for days afterwards.

We also have one more imminent announcement which is something for the Grooms. Often they can be left out at wedding fairs. Not at this one. You’ll be staggered (a clue!) at who is coming to our April fair!

Tickets on sale now! xxx
