DIY Twine Table Numbers

Recently we’ve been getting all arty crafty with some twine and some wine bottles to make some surprisingly easy table numbers which would look great at any rustic styled wedding.  They were so easy to do we thought we would share it with you.

You’ll need some empty clean wine bottles with the labels taken off, some double sided sticky tape, scissors and some twine.

Step 1. Drink wine and save bottle. Clear bottles work best. Saluté

Step 2: Ensure your bottles are clean and dry.

Step 3: Put some double sided sticky tape at the top, bottom and also curve of the bottle.

Step 4: Start the twine at the top of the bottle and wind your way down carefully paying particular care when you get to the curve of the bottle.

Et voila!

Lisa and Lee {photographed by Gemma Williams}

This wedding we’re about to show you is absolute Vintage Chic and the beautiful images were taken by Gemma Williams Photography.

It was a hard task to choose which images to show you as they are all just stunning and over flowing with inspiration.

Bride Lisa and Groom Lee  were married on 14th July this year at Hereford Town Hall followed by a reception at Lisa’s Stepdads’ home in a fantastic yurt.

Lee popped the question on the third anniversary of them being together and was a total surprise to Lisa who had no idea! Awwwww

Their wedding includes so many vintage chic features such as a 50’s inspired dress, birdcage veil, icecream tricycle and a convertible VW Beetle.

Take a look at these  images captured by talented Gemma Williams and see for yourself. You’ll be swooning like us. Promise!

Congratulations to Lee and Lisa. We wish you a lifetime of happiness together xx

Wedfest {Chantal & Kris}

Imagine a wedding complete with all the trappings of a music festival and you have Wedfest. I was honored to capture this wedding for Chantal & Kris and really excited to share it with you.

Chantal & Kris both share a love of live music so it’s apt that they chose to organise this wedding with a festival theme in mind. They also wanted to keep their big day as relaxed and informal as possible.  No table plan, no speeches, no formalities except having a great time with friends and family.

They were married in church where friends and family joined them to celebrate, following on to rural Worcestershire near Bromyard at a barn tucked away boasting the most magnificent views.

The barn was decorated with colourful jam jars and wild flowers, colourful lanterns, pom poms, hay bales and some brilliant lighting .  The mezzanine was furnished with old sofas for people to chillax on.

Guests were entertained by some outstandingly talented bands who rocked some covers and some beautiful hand penned tracks.

Chantal wore a 50’s inspired handmade dress by her lovely Mum Lyn which she accessorised with blue suede heels, a vintage lace jacket and a statement necklace. The bridesmaids also wore handmade dresses with the youngest girls wearing denim jackets!

Most of the guests changed en route from the church into festival gear including obligatory wellies which was just so fitting for the theme.

This beautiful couple wanted their wedding, their way. You’ve got to respect that! Thank you Chantal and Kris for letting me be a part of your wedding day – here’s a little taster xx

Congratulations to Chantal & Kris, we wish you a beautiful life together. xx

Yvonne Lishman Photography | Beautiful, Fun, Original Imagery Unique To You

We’re sure we’ve mentioned it before but it’ll do no harm to say it again. Wedding photographers are not all the same. Fact.

For a couple organising their wedding it would be all too easy to try and find the cheapest or the one that has been recommended by a friend of a friend. After all, you just want some lovely images of your big day to look back on right?  In our opinion, you can’t be blasé about who photographs your wedding. They’re an investment!

The market is pretty saturated right  now with wedding photographers and they vary very, very much. Their shooting style, editing style, prices and packages and perhaps the biggest of all- their personality.

Being photographed for a whole day can be a daunting thought and there are many people out there who are camera shy. If this is you then you need a photographer who takes this on board with an ability to quickly put you at your ease.

Meet Yvonne Lishman. Yvonne exhibited with us last year at Stancliffe Hall Matlock and we were wowed not only by the quality of her work but also her lovely personality.

Release your inner rockstar…!

Catching up with Yvonne she told us …

“Over the years so many clients have told me that they aren’t photogenic or that they hate having their photograph taken that I’ve lost count. They aren’t convinced either when I tell them that an experienced photographer who they have an affinity with and whose style of photograph they like will be able to get the best out of them.

When Amy and Harry booked me for their wedding in August 2011 Amy was no exception. After their pre-wedding portrait session Amy still didn’t like herself in the photographs and she assured me it was nothing to do with my photography.  Amy genuinely isn’t aware of how beautiful she is and of course this makes her a perfect subject for photography because her lack of pretension and sweetness shine through. After their wedding even though I knew Anneka, my friend and second shooter, and I had taken lovely images of Amy and Harry I half expected, and was worried to be honest, that Amy wouldn’t like many of the pictures of herself but only three were removed from the gallery and two of those were of Harry!

I was really pleased but then doubly pleased when Amy readily agreed to a model shoot with me, and my photographer friends Anneka James and Chris Ensell. Plus I knew she would look perfect in any of the dresses made by my newest buddies Astra and Rachel at Timeless Couture. The results were stunning and proof if it were needed to those who say they aren’t photogenic or hate having their photographs taken that with a photographer who knows what their doing, who’s creative and who feels like your friend you’ll will find your inner rock star.

Considering Amy isn’t a professional model, it’s clear to see that Yvonne has done a great job in creating these stunning images.

So with no further ado, here ‘s a selection of  beautiful images from the shoot. ♥

Coterie Photos ~ Laura and Greg…. and a Haribo Ring!

Rebecca from Coterie Photos (one of our lovely directory listings) recently did an engagement shoot for clients Laura and Greg. Here’s their romantic story…….

“We met nearly 8 years ago at University in Sheffield, one of my house mates was the university football captain and he introduced us on a night out! We actually met playing table football lol!  We clicked straight away and a few days later on a night out we bumped into each other again, it was football initation night (freshers week) and the whole football team were out wearing only their boxers ha ha!!

Greg tapped me and my friends hands together and then tapped me to him and dragged me round a few bars with him… the rest is history! Greg proposed last summer on holiday in Corfu…. It was the first night of our holiday and after a lovely traditional Greek meal (including plate smashing and dancing) he took me on a walk down the deserted beach! He had arranged for the restaurant owner to put a table and chairs right by the waters edge, I started laughing because I didn’t know what the hell was going on Greg told me to sit down and when I looked up he was down on one knee ahhhh! Greg actually proposed with a haribo ring in a lovely posh box (which was highly amusing at the time)… he wanted us to go together to pick the ring and straight after our holiday we did just that! We are due to get married this August at the Maynard in Grindleford, it will be exactly one year since getting engaged! We have been together a long time already (Greg was 19 and I was 21) and have many happy memories and shared lots of special times together but nothing beats the night we got engaged! I love Greg for his laid back nature (most of the time) and we both really appreciate everything that we do for each other, we both can’t wait for the big day and are looking forward to spending many many happy years together! “

And here are some of their photos……..

Ahhhhhh  – some beautiful images of a lovely couple. Wishing them luck for their wedding and life together xx

Vintage Chic Wedding Fair 22nd April {part two}

As promised, here’s a bit more info about our exhibitors at our fair last week at the Centennial Centre Birmingham. The list of exhibitors was our biggest yet and they all pulled out the stops to showcase their stunning work. So here goes…..

Photography and Videography

One of the most important suppliers for your day are photographers who are there to capture the essence, emotions and details of your big day. These memories will last a life time so it’s important to find the right one. Liezl Croft, Steve Gerrard, Daffodil Waves, Maria Lynne and Chris Barber were our tog exhibitors who each have their own defined style. All have a number of years experience under their belt and are clearly passionate about what they do. They all come highly recommended.

Something a little different at this fair…..Fishee Designs‘ photo booth was a massive hit – brilliant entertainment and memories created.

For video there was Mark from The Big Day productions who creates super 8 footage of your wedding day and we’ll be featuring Mark in a separate blog post in the next few days.

Floral Art

In Bloom, Fusion Flowers and Passion for Flowers bought along some stunning floral creations. Their work is utterly stunning, stylish and very vintage.

Fusion Flowers also did a few demonstrations for Brides on the day which were very well received. In Bloom bought along a huge vintage birdcage and Passion for Flowers created a stunning stand with a nod to their popular signature style.

Finding the dress can be a minefield however Luxe Bridal, Glory Days Vintage, Stella Liliana and Lovely and Vintage were on hand with an impressive array of beautiful vintage dresses and accessories from across all eras.

Beaubuttons is really making a name in the wedding industry with her individual and bespoke button bouquets. Cute as a button don’t you agree!

Victoria Delany a highly trained jeweller with a new quarter based studio bought some amazing designs along. Was tempted to get my credit card out there and then!! She will happily discuss a designing a bespoke piece for you.

Connie and Dolly’s and Bella Roxs’ stand were equally stunning with some beautiful pieces which can also include individual pieces to make them 100% individual to you.

Gil Fox is a highly experienced Milliner and again her designs really stand out from the crowd. Very reasonable prices too.

Cakes and Sweets

Yummmmmm cakes nom nom nom!

We have so much respect for these cake makers and designers who included Lolas Bakehouse, The Red Cake Company, Pattacake Bakery and Cotton and crumbs. They have bags of creativity and patience to do what they do. A very hard choice to be made if you’re looking for a wedding cake as they are all so amazing! Respect to them all.

Emilys Best sweet shop was yet again extremely popular . The second time this authentic vintage sweet shop has exhibited with us now. (The very best of luck to Ruth and her Husband for the imminent birth of their first baby)

Stationery sets the scene for a wedding theme and is the first impression your guests will have of your day. Huge thanks to Garden Studio Crafts (they have exhibited with us from day one : )), Perched Bird and Studio Seed. Again similar to photographers, these designers have their own definitive style but all stunning none the less.

Hair and Make Up

Local pin up Queen Lynsey Le Keux and Sarah Russell have serious talent in making Brides look the very best on their big day. Fabulous hair and make up : )

It was wonderful to meet Claire from Double You at last. She has some brilliant contacts within the wedding industry and is dedicated to making planning your wedding less stressful. Let her do the hard work while you enjoy the build up.

We are so fortunate to have Simon Partridge as our signature entertainer. He’s been with us from the very start and he effortlessly brings our fair to life. If you came to the fair I bet you you’re still humming away!!! Heaven…… I’m in Heaven…..

Thanks also to My Dance Birmingham What a great concept! With all eyes on the Bride and Groom for their first dance, you want to make a good impression and wow your crowd! Let the professionals teach you or have fun learning some burlesque for your hen night….

Alan Feeny bought along his usual air of distinction. He’s a man of many talents as a celebrant, toastmaster and speech writer. A lovely guy too : )

Styling and China Hire

Inspirational ideas for your vintage wedding bought to you by the following wonderful exhibitors. Darby and Joan, Penny Lane, Vintage Twee, Cotton and Roses, Meeni,  TheWedding of my Dreams and Whimsical Wishes. It’s the little things that bring a wedding together and these girls certainly know how to style a wedding. So many different beautiful ideas embracing every vintage era.

Classic Cars

Thanks to Darwin Classic cars for bringing their vintage Daimler. It’s a stunning venicle and a perfect way to arrive in style at a wedding or special occassion.

My Craftea Day

Hannah from My Craftea Day delivered some brilliant craft demos which were highly popular. She’s a crafty one lol!!!!  Such a fab concept for DIY Brides and for Hen Do parties. (Actually kids would love this too!!! I know ours would!)

Thanks to I am Staggered which is a brilliant concept for Grooms. They were on hand to help with speech writing , honey moon planning and more. Their blog is well worth a visit!!
