There was a time gone by when at a wedding, all you would want and expect would be a 3 tier fruit cake, white icing (rock hard!) with a cake topper of a Bride and Groom. A cheesy photo of the couple cutting the cake – job done.
These days however things have evolved- thankfully!
Along with the wedding cake in all different shapes sizes and tastes ( beautifully decorated to marry with the theme of the day) there are also cupcakes, cookies and (our fave) cake pops!
Wedding cake makers these days are extremely creative and flexible and will work hard to provide you with creations that look so beautiful you won’t want to eat them! I remember asking one cake exhibitor how long it took to make one of the roses on the cake as they were so gorgeous. An hour……. and there were over 300 roses on the cake!!! I had no idea previously how hard cake suppliers work but I do now and have massive respect for them.
Cakes are also becoming more and more of a feature at hen dos with vintage style tea parties becoming ever more popular.
So what makes a wedding cake ‘vintage inspired’? That depends on a couple’s theme however there’s a few elements that are key to linking your cakes in with your vintage day. Lace, roses, beautiful bows, bunting and art deco swags all feature in modern day vintage inspired cakes.
At The Custard Factory you can come and see the work of Cotton and Crumbs and The Red Cake Company.
We also have Vintage Glamour Days providing tea and cake!
At Stancliffe Hall we have Yummy Little Cakes
At our fairs you will be able to see our exhibitors wonderful masterpieces in the flesh as photos just don’t give them the credit they deserve. We are in awe of their talent, patience and creativity. Come see for yourself!
